The night started off with Colfax who fought hard with their young team.
They forfeited varsity, but in JV action, Saybra Silveria (aka Zebra),
Abby Boynton, Ethan Basque and Aidan Avalos (2.0) all got wins. Francisco
Claudio had an injury default.
Next
up after the senior night celebration was Bear River coming off their
nail biter win over Lincoln. Bear River just had to beat Placer to
secure a PVL championship. But they came to the gladiator arena known as
the Earl Crabbe gym. That is no place for Bruins! Bryce Cook starts Placer off with a tough victory.
Then Sam Bender made the crowd erupt with his first round pin.
Christian Westphalen fought hard but lost his match. Joseph Valdez gave
Placer a much needed pin in the second period after giving his opponent
some frequent flyer miles. Francisco Claudio was still inured, so had to
forfeit his match. Jacob Grim fought hard but lost to Hunter Daniel.
Paul Banks collected his forfeit to put Placer back on top. Colton
Mcelroy in his first varsity action goes out and pins his opponent
sending the crowd into a frenzy. AJ Ferreira gave Placer another pin in
the first round and the crowd erupted again. Logan Moon (aka Asteroid)
bumped up for the team and had the match of the night frustrating his
opponent at every turn. Almost brought a tear to coach Pack's eye as he
beamed with pride over the Herculean effort. Sweeney made short work of
his opponent getting a first round pin. Ethan Basque lost his tough
match late after going up early. But it was too little too late and Bear
River forfeited the last two matches sealing the Placer victory 51 to 30. Way
to go Hillmen. Next PVL action is Wednesday the 24th at foothill. |
